THE ONE THING--an interview with Vice Speaker of the Coordinating Council of the Belarussian Government in Exile Elena Zhivoglod
This week is not "The Three Things," but instead "The One Thing," as I conducted an interview with Vice-Speaker of the Coordinating Council of the Belarussian Government in Exile Elena Zhivoglod. I must say that I found Zhivoglod's comments both remarkable and candid, as she described the 2020 elections, the efforts of her NGO prior and during the elections and the realization that she was herself suddenly exiled from her country--and that her friends and relatives were under threat. During the interview she also explains recent efforts to offer hope to those within Belarus, as those without through a program to provide travel documents in place of Belarussian passports. This is an impressive, brave and determined woman and is worth a watch.
Please note that, following the interview I decided to cut the other two subjects, as they also need time to play out. These were, obviously, the Polish elections (looks like sea change, but let's see how hard PiS attempts to hold on) and the war in Ukraine where the Russian counter to the counter in Avdiivka has been vicious (and costly). We'll cover these next week.Time stamps:
